Creating model documents from work product is compelling.
However the actual process of removing sensitive data from the
work product can be daunting. The amount of time involved,
the expertise of the individual cleaning the document,
and the possibility for error, makes this process much less
attractive. Eva Mineva, VP of OpenSource, Inc. provides an
overview of Sanitize, a product which automates the
process of removing sensitive data from work product.

Microsoft Acquires Email Search Technology Firm
In a effort to
enhance its email search capabilities, Microsoft acquired a
small Silicon Valley search-technology specialist – Lookout Inc.
Lookout has developed a powerful software add-in for Outlook to
quickly search email messages, contacts, calendar, notes, and
tasks. You can even search other files on your computer.
Recently discovered by several members of the staff, we have
been using Lookout internally with great success. The press
release announcing the acquisition indicated future plans to
integrate Lookout into Microsoft’s product offerings. In the
mean time, Lookout can be downloaded at no charge from
www.lookoutsoft.com.
Microsoft Releases Windows XP SP2
After much delay,
Microsoft has begun shipping the home version of a new release of their desktop
operating system - Windows XP Service Pack 2. The Professional
version will be available through Microsoft's automatic update
service in late August.
More than just a
security patch for Windows XP, this new release also has many
features that provide safer browsing and easier communication.
The new Windows Security Center simplifies the management of
security settings in one convenient place. An improved firewall
protects from viruses, worms, and other security threats. There
is now an Internet Explorer Pop-up blocker to reduce unwanted
ads and content. For laptop users, the improved wireless support
simplifies the process of discovering and connecting to wireless
networks. For more information on this significant new release –
Many firms will want to thoroughly test SP2 with
existing applications before full deployment. Microsoft has just
released a
toolkit to temporarily disable the automatic updates of SP2.
There is also a
Microsoft Knowledge Base article with details on problems
encountered by certain applications with SP2. Many of the
issues involve the Windows Firewall which
is automatically enabled with the update.
