Extranets: Making It Easier for Your Clients to Do Business with You

“It’s always easier to get business from existing clients than it is to get business from new clients.” This old truism is looking fresher during these lean times, when many firms are looking for ways to encourage client loyalty. There is one approach being widely applied in many industries today that law firms haven’t yet taken much advantage of. more...

Online Backups – The New Wave in Backup Technology

KKL Software Releases ezClean Version 3.2 Beta

KKL Software announces the beta release of ezClean 3.2, a new version of KKL's metadata cleaner. The new software adds the ability to detect and clean metadata found in Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to its established capabilities in Word and Excel. Version 3.2 also integrates more tightly with Document Management Systems such as iManage and DOCS Open, for the first time permitting users to save cleaned documents directly into their DMS. Users can also now differentiate between email they are sending internally versus externally by specifying that ezClean automatically screen only messages sent outside their organization.

Microsoft Office 11 Beta

KKL is part of Microsoft’s beta test of its new version of Office and our in-house testing is already underway. We will report our findings and observations early in the New Year.

This Month's Answer
Documents created in Microsoft PowerPoint contain several types of hidden metadata, including the author's name, author's initials, company name, computer name, server name, comments and any embedded objects. Microsoft’s guide to deleting these metadata is located at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314800 See also the item in this issue on KKL’s latest update to ezClean, which also deletes metadata from PowerPoint presentations.

Question of the Month

Much has been made about hidden metadata in Microsoft Word documents (it exists in Excel, too). Do Microsoft PowerPoint presentations also contain hidden metadata?
